Police in Battambang province busted an internet cafe for running an online gambling operation which went against its licence conditions, resulting in the arrest of the owner and 22 people betting on the games in Battambang town on Saturday. 


Town police chief Pang Heang said that among the 22 gamblers arrested, four were under 18.

Mr Heang said police seized 39 computers, 38 keyboards, 38 mouses, 36 earphones, 38 desktop cases, two bicycles and 16 motorbikes. 


The shop was only supposed to be serving coffee and offering internet connections, but was instead being used as a place in which teens were betting on online games. 


Cheth Vanny, Situs Sbobet Online Terpercaya deputy provincial police chief who led the operation, said that though the internet cafe was licensed, it was not following the rules. 


“The internet cafe was actually licensed by the Department of Telecommunications, but it did not comply with the conditions,” he said. 


“The cafe is only supposed to serve the coffee and the internet service, but it went beyond that by secretly providing online gambling.”
